Powiull Sleep Experimentation

1:29 pm Tuesday

Nicholas told me that my 3 hours wasn’t that harmful to my adaptation. The fact that I woke up is a good sign and shows that my body is getting closer to adapting, that it’s not held down by monophasic patterns as much anymore. I’m going to be going as long as I can today before I take a nap. This would have been my last opportunity for a nap before 2 am tonight, as I’m between classes. If I’m tired, I may be able to squeeze one in around 9:30 or so. We’ll see. I have a ton of intramural games tonight so I don’t think I’ll be to needy of a nap until I’m all done.

2:11 pm Wednesday

I didn’t update at all since about this time yesterday, but here’s what went down. I slowly started feeling worse and worse throughout the afternoon. Not tired, just sick and miserable. The intramural games changed that and when I got back around 12:30, I was feeling great. Just chatted online and watched some TV shows throughout the night until about 6:30. I had been dozing off slightly during the shows and decided it was time for a nap. Took it and felt horrible waking up, but got up nonetheless. Went to breakfast and then to class, where I proceeded to doze off some more. I was so dead tired that I took another nap at 9:15 after the class, went to my next class where I dozed off some more, and came back. I took another nap at 12:00, of which my suitemate said he would wake me up, and didn’t. So I slept 2 hours. Doing better I guess right? At least it wasn’t 3 or even more. I’m going to take naps a bit more often now to try and get my body used to naps and force it to get some really deep sleep during them. Then I can start stretching the times. Hopefully that goes as planned.

2:02 am Thursday

I don’t know what it is with me posting every 12 hours, but here it is. It took me a while to feel good after the extended nap in the afternoon, but I did eventually. I was still tired and dozed off a little here and there, but just for minutes at a time. Then once I ate dinner I was feeling good, especially after my late night workout. I’m starting to get a little tired now though, so I’m going to watch The Office until I can’t keep my eyes open and then take a nap.

4:00 am

I’m not dead tired, but I think I’m going to take a nap within the next hour. I think it would be beneficial, as it would give my body a chance to try and get restful sleep as well as avoid falling asleep later today. The next time I would be able to take a nap is at 1 and I’m not sure I could make it that far without dozing off in class. If I take this nap, I’m fairly confident I can make it until tonight (probably around midnight or so) before taking another nap. We shall see.

6:26 am

So much for taking a nap. I just never got tired. I got tired very quickly without even being aware of it while watching The Office about 30 minutes ago and dozed off for 4 and a half minutes, but that is quite alright. I’m not very tired now either but I will definitely need to take a nap by 8:00 am or I’m going to have trouble staying awake during my morning classes.

12:52 pm

Great!!! So I ended up taking that nap around 7:45, but apparently I went back to sleep after I woke up and just woke up, 4.5 hours later. I thought last night was my best night also. I was feeling great and I thought I was going to get through today perfectly. I guess that wasn’t the case. I’m not giving up though, oh no. I’ve got this whole weekend to buckle down even more. I will prevail.

2:18 am Friday

Apparently I slept 2 hours off and on tonight without noticing. Do to the fact that my body wants to sleep extended periods of time and isn’t getting deep sleep during naps, I’m going to be doing Dymaxion (a nap every 6 hours) to relearn the ability. I will do that through the weekend and adapt to it. I will then be able to extend awake times. Stay tuned.

Powiull Sleep - Day 1

So I thought I’d better start updating regularly on how this is going. First, let me lay down what exactly I’m doing on my path to adapt to Powiull sleep, which involves sleeping 15-30 minutes every 12 hours.

I tried one method over the weekend in which I went as long as I could without sleeping to better coax my body into an intense, REM nap when the time came, but I pushed my luck and didn’t go to sleep when I should have, resulting in me falling asleep and sleeping for 5 hours. I attempted again and received the same result. I am now trying an alternate method that I have tweaked to better suit what I think will lead to my success.

This method involves adapting to polyphasic sleep and then either gradually extending the awake periods as long as you can until you reach 12 hours, or by going as long as you can without sleeping as I attempted this weekend (without fully adapting to polyphasic sleep). What I am doing, starting yesterday morning when I woke up from my slumber, combines both of these methods. I am going as long as I can without sleeping, but not pushing it. If I get tired, I take a nap, resulting in multiple naps in a day. I think it will be both quicker and less painful to adapt under this method.

I have realized however that I’m not taking multiple naps, partly due to a short oversleep last night. I went all day yesterday before my first nap at 10:15 pm, a good 11 hours. I then went 7 and a half hours until the next one at 6:30 which I overslept on until 8:30 due to idiocy of turning off my alarm. It is now 5:30 and I have been up for 9 hours. I had the desire to take a nap around 1, but after occupying myself with something else, I woke back up and went to the gym. I may or may not take a nap until this evening. I feel slightly sick, but I think it is more due to the fact that I haven’t eaten since 11:30, so we’ll see how that helps. I’m not that hungry though and I feel I may end up losing appetite just as Nicholas of Conscious Flex did. I need the nutrients for working out though, so I’m going to try to eat as much as I can.

I have changed my method of naps also. Instead of sleeping lying down, I am sleeping sitting up on my bed to prevent my body from shutting down. Hopefully this will help me adapt to the daydreaming of Powiull sleep and wake up easier, though it didn’t seem to help last night. :/
I will be updating after each nap and whenever I feel the need to say something important or just observational. I will keep these all in one post and submit it in the middle of the night for you enjoyment in the morning.

7:11 pm

Eating definitely helped. It got rid of my stomach ache, but I’m still feeling the effects of adaptation. I just stood up, and got really dizzy, and for a minute had the feeling that I was going to pass out. Pretty much exactly how I feel when I give blood. I have noticed today and last night that my typing is slower, more so than I’ve noticed any other time over the course of trying to adapt.

10:00 pm

Decided to take a nap, as it was getting hard for me to read and I really need to study. Took it at 9:15 for 25 minutes and it worked like a charm. Fell asleep REALLY quickly, even sitting up, so I’m definitely happy about that. Feeling refreshed, but I don’t know how long it’s going to last. The night is long :/

7:28 am

Just woke up…from sleeping. I don’t know how, but I was in my bed. Apparently I fell asleep. I took a nap at 4:00am but I woke up and go on the computer. How I ended up falling asleep, I don’t know. :( Starting Over.

Defining Yourself Through the Power of Mind

Though, I've changed a lot in recent years in how outgoing I am, I wasn't always, and at time still am not, keen to be that social with a lot of people. I just find it more satisfying to enjoy that which I already have and slowly develop new friendships. Because of this I seem, on the surface, like a pretty simple, no frills person. Yet to the surprise of many, I've never been what you'd call a normal kid, which some people would be surprised to hear.

I've always been interested in thousands of things, and rarely do they ever sound remotely similar or even in the same universe of interests. I've played basketball all my life, yet I was the only one on my team even close to the top 5% of my class (I was top 3%, otherwise I wouldn't have made it into business school). I loved math and science and was always in the more advanced classes. The same goes for my other classes, though I never really cared for English, just cruised along in the GT classes, which "harvested the seeds of our creativity" rather than focus on the simple traditional grammar and spelling ridiculousness. I.E. We got to make art and have fun. I loved those classes. The writing, not so much.

I've picked up different interests from the large amounts of groups I've been part of. People see you a certain way by the cliques you take part in, but I was in so many I really don't know what people thought of me. I was in the smart kids clique, the trouble makers clique (something I left behind in middle school but still hold dear to my heart), and the athletes clique, among others. Being on the basketball team, I picked up hip hop culture and started listening to rap in 9th grade. It's now my favorite music, though just coming into high school I was probably viewed was one of the most conservative, boring guys around the court. I picked up creativity from all my peers in advanced classes. It's truly been an honor to be around those people. I can only imagine the dreams they will accomplish and how they will change the world.

Until my senior year in high school, I had always just picked up random interests from wherever they came, but that year, I decided I was going to actually work to grow. It's one thing to just let yourself be yourself, its another to take the initiative to improve upon that which you already are. As I said before, I wasn't always the most social. I had never had a girlfriend, pretty much out of choice. Senior year I had 3. I was more loose social, more open and transparent with myself, and an all around more easy going guy. It was the best thing I've done my whole life and has allowed me to change in far more ways than I could imagine.

The social aspect of my life was the main focus for 2007 and 2008, but coming into 2009, I have become interested almost to an obsession with personal development and self growth. Just for a little background, before this year, I picked up a lot of oddball interests and skills. Rubik's cube speed solving, memorizing triple digits of pi, among others. It's these kinds of things that make me who I am. Underneath my boring facade, I'm pretty ridiculous and out there. Outgoing would be an understatement. I pretty much do everything and anything. Back on subject, though.

I have never made New Year's Resolutions, but as some of you have seen, I made a rather long list for 2009 and so far, have worked hard to chip into it. And it is here that I lead into the message of this blog.

Around January 20th, I started on my trek to become a polyphasic sleeper, taking 6 naps a day for 30 minutes. Mistakes galore have occurred and the whole thing is taking much longer than is necessary. With self growth, though, there must be dedication. If you don't want it, you won't get it. I want it, and I will not settle ending short of my goal.

Recently, however, I was introduced to one of the most inspirational bloggers I've come across, Nicholas Powiull of Conscious Flex. What he has spoken has truly cleared my view of what I seek to accomplish.

Nicholas doesn't just believe you can achieve anything you set your mind to. Most people only take this so far. They don't truly believe ANYTHING is possible. Nicholas does. By unlocking the power of the mind, you CAN achieve anything. So often do scientists try and define the world around us, only to be disproved later on. Whether it be years, decades, or centuries later, some of the most popular beliefs have been shown to be far from the truth. We still today do not understand space, time, and gravity. And in more relevance to know, we don't know the actual function of sleep, nor that it is actually necessary. Theories abound, but we still do not know.

People fight me every day on what I am trying to do. "You must stop, you're going to kill yourself." Really? How do you know this? "Sleep is absolutely necessary!" Has it been proven? I get these questions left and right, but people cannot see through the surface of the world. They see the physical world and think thats all there is, but they do not understand how the world, nor the human mind works. They simply assume that because it seems impossible that it must be impossible.

In order to grow, you must get past this fact. The world is not as simple as you think. You CAN achieve the unthinkable. As of Friday, I am now attempting Powiull sleep, a cycle that Nicholas has proven to not only work but generate amazing results and success in improving the human body in alertness and health. What this involves, roughly, is sleeping 15-30 minutes every 12 hours. He has even at times gone 24 hours without sleeping without a hitch. He attributes this to unlocking the power of the subconscious. All this can be found on his blog. I encourage you to read it.

I challenge you to let go of the assumptions you have of the world around you. Allow yourself to truly believe that anything is possible if you set your mind to it. Once you do that, there is nothing that you can't accomplish to better define who you really are. There is only one of you, so make it the best it can be.

Deep Sleep

So one thing I've noticed today from my naps is that they are some of the deepest ones I've had since starting this, even after oversleeping last night. From all my naps today, I woke up thinking I had slept for hours, confused as to where I was and refreshed yet a bit groggy, pretty much exactly how I feel after a normal night's rest. It's really motivating that this is happenning. 1) That I've gained the ability to have a great nap and 2) Because it means last night didn't mess that up.

On another note, my friend is going to start doing some research on my experiences and changes from this so I pretty much have no choice to get on this right now and mess up. I don't want to cause her to get a bad great on her research assignment. So I'm going to be fighting hard. I'll be blogging after EVERY nap. You will have lots of up to date updates lol. Enjoy and wish me luck.

If anyone has any questions, just send them my way. My contact information is on the right or just leave a comment here. Stay tuned peoples!

Beds Suck

Well guys, I had gone 64 hours perfectly. I was starting to feel great and I really think I was seeing the horizon if success. Then I took a nap. I'm not sure what happened, I don't remember, but judging by my phone laying on the bed, I'm going to guess that I turned off by alarms when they went off and then decided to "rest my eyes." you can be sure I'm never going to do that again. I've seen the other side though and thy gives me oodles of motivation. I'm starting back up today and U will be on this for good by Tuesday. Mark my words. That's 6 days. Plenty to get adapted.

I think it's exciting to say, though, that polyphasic sleep WILL be a success. I've seen that it can work if you stick with it. I can't wait to stay on it long enough that it feels natural. Stay tuned my friends.

I Can See the Peak!

I finally did it. I made it past the 2nd night perfectly. Well, pretty much perfectly. I added an extra nap last night. I wish I hadn't added it, but it avoided oversleeping and didn't hinder my progress. I woke up from my last nap a half hour ago at 9 and thought, oh crap, I've overslept, but nope! I had just woken up before my alarm went off. It had felt like hours. It won't be hard to get through today. I'm super busy, but by tonight I'm going to be exhausted. Hopefully that was the hardest night because I don't want to do it again. I at least know I can get myself up from all my naps (knock on wood) so thats good. I can't wait to see how I feel come the weekend. Stay tuned!

For The Love of All That Is Holy

Please let me finally get through 2 nights perfectly! Here I am again, approaching the 2nd night having gone 30+ hours perfectly without messing up and oversleeping. I always mess up here (or on the 4th night, but thats when I've had an oversleep of a couple hours). I NEED to get through it this time. I'm tired of starting over and more importantly I'm tired of blogging the same ol' same ol'. I'm sure you guys are just as annoyed by it as I am. If I get through this, I'll FINALLY get to blog about the stuff that I've been wanting to blog about. So I pray, God, please help me get through tonight without a hitch so I can stop pestering these poor readers with my failures. They need to see some success. They need to see change. God bless America.

Going For It

Despite the fact that I really could use someone doing this with me, I'm gonna go for it right now and start again tonight. Last time I woke up from a messed up sleep was 9 this morning so we'll see how this goes. I plan to do naps at 11, 3, 6, and 9 tonight. I've got stuff to do so I won't have trouble staying up, it's just a matter of waking up. Like always.

On a non-polyphasic note, I'll be starting a few blog series. They are as follows.

Funnies From Freddyville - My best friend Freddy has a hilarious mom. I'll have a new list of all the funny things she says and does on the first of every month. Follow Freddy on Twitter: @XT3NT

New Words of the Month - Coming on the 15th of every month (starting next month), I'll be releasing a list of all the new, made up words I here around town and from friends.

I'll tell of more when I come up with them. Until then, stay tuned for more updates.

Well That Was Easy

My computer decided last night for me. My sound was muted, so my alarm did nothing for me and I slept in. Oh well. I may or may not sleep tonight and tomorrow. I've got an exam on exam on Tuesday, so I need my sleep, but I think I could do just as well if I was napping. We'll see. I just need people to help. Come on guys.

To Sleep, or Not to Sleep

Being home and trying to adapt just don't mix well. First of all, my bed is amazingly comfortable, causing me to dwell in my slumber for longer than I'm supposed to, and second of all, my day is just to dang long. When I'm at school, it's very choppy. Go to class, come back, go to class again, come back, go to meetings, come back, go work out, come back; it's really a perfect schedule for sleeping polyphasically. I woke up from random sleeping at 3pm this afternoon. I haven't taken a nap since and I'm getting really tired. It's 11:40 right now and I'm trying to decide if I will sleep or not. I've deprived myself a bit of sleep this afternoon, so I think I may be able to get over the hump faster if I'm able to stick with napping, but it's so hard to wake up at home. If I can get someone to wake me up somehow, by calling or something, I may be able to push myself through the night with episodes of the office and some studying. We'll see. I'm gonna get on this, it's just a matter of how long it's going to take.

Mistaken

Well, I thought I would make it to morning without a problem when I posted at 5:30 this morning. Then I accidentally fell asleep watching the Office. Great. At least it was just a couple hours. I skipped my 9am nap so that should help. 3 days left for success.

Runtime Error

I just woke up a from a nap and I feel weird. I feel like that little kid that went to teh dentist. Whenever I try to think, my mind seems to be overwhelmed with my request and I can feel my brain slowing to think about it. It feels like my mind's bandwidth is being throttled, like my mind is going to an endless color wheel/hourglass. It's funny lol.

Well that's all, just letting you guys know that I successfully woke up from a late night nap. It's 5:38 right now and I'll be getting to morning successfully. I have noticed one thing though, my body seems to have partially lost the sbility for deep sleep during the naps. Just a little. I still think I'm having dreams occasionally (I'm pretty positive I had one in my last nap), but the naps don't seem really long like they did after a week or so when I started. Hopefully I'll regain that fast. It will really help.

I'm getting quite hungry, but I don't want to go downstairs and disturb my parents(I'm back in San Antonio for the weekend). Oh well. Morning is not far off.

Avalanche of Failure

Has hopefully passed, but it happened nonetheless. If you read my previous post, you probably noticed it abruptly ended lol. That's how mentally out of it I was. I vaguely remember doing that post. I couldn't really keep my eyes open and had trouble making sentences. It was bad. But anywyas, I had gone a good 40+ hours straight perfectly without oversleeping or messing up at all, and then I don't know what happened. I went back to sleep because I was dead tired and ended oversleeping on that nap also, but for 5 hours. I was so gone mentally I think it would have been impossible. You really have stick on this closely if you want to maintain the focus needed to continue it. Well I ended up taking more extended naps in the afternoon also and so I've completely screwed up in the past 15 hours or so. I'm starting back up this evening. I need to get on this over the weekend. It'll have been 4 weeks on Monday since I started trying to do this thing. I really want to make it by the end of a month. I NEED you guys. If you live in Austin and want to help me, you just gotta be up late or up early with me ONE NIGHT. If I have a different person forcing me to wake up each time, I know I can get on this thing in 4 or 5 days max. Is ANYONE willing to help?

Confused

GAHHHHHHHHHH I'm so mad at myself. I overslept by 2 hours. Luckily it was in the middle of the night and it wasn't a straight 2 hours. I'm not exactly sure how it happened but I think I messed up setting the alarms in the first place and so ended up having a war with the alarm clocks
I'm pretty sure they were a

Donatello

The title of this post has no meaning, I'm just sitting in the Frito Lay, the Undergraduate Business Council office at UT-Austin, and they're talking about ninja turtles. Random I know.

I've felt better and better as the day's gone on. I fell 100% confident that I can maintain my schedule without oversleeping. I'm doing great.

Well, I gotta go. I'm being taken against my will. Til next time...

POLYTHIRST

I want to make a parody of the powerthirst video called Polythirst, made with real sleep, so you can sleep like babies. 400 BABIESSSSSS.

Anyways, got through my 8:30 nap without a hitch. Woke up right away. It's been 27 hours straight without any oversleeping at all. All this and I'm going into the weekend. I'm excited. GET EXCITED!!!

Okay maybe I'm celebrating too early, but I think I really made a breakthrough last night. Just finding ways to keep myself awake and to wake up. I think if I just stay focused I should be doing better by Tuesday. That all depends if I can keep on the schedule when I go back to San Antonio this weekend. That's far off though. Well, two days far off.

I've been thinking of taking a tip from Tynan's log and doing bets. So, if you want to make a bet with me that I can't get on this by a certain time, or that I can't go without oversleeping anymore, or whatever crazy ideas you cats have, let me know. It will only add to my motivation. Shoot me an email or leave a comment.

Uhhhhhhhhh...

I've made it through the night, 23 hours, without a single oversleep. Woot. I've still got a nap to take at 8:30. though, which may prove tough. I can't oversleep on that one. I've got my classes started on me.

Hopefully that last sentence didn't make sense to you. I just read what I wrote. I can't even think anymore. My eyelids are like magnets (of opposite polarities if you wanna get specific lol). This is going to be tough. I need to push through to Friday. I've got friends that can keep me up and wake me up on Friday. Today(Thursday) is the crucial one. Stay tuned.

The Punisher

Lives within me. I know Steve Pavlina told Tynan that you should reward yourself for the good rather than punish yourself for the bad, but I need to be knocked into shape, so today, after oversleeping on my last nap last night and waking up at 8, I made myself skip a nap and not take one until about 3:45. I was a bit tired, but not a zombie, so I think it helped me and was perfect to get back into this. I then went and worked out, had a meeting, and took my next nap at a bit before 9 when I got back. I woke up easily and got through the next 4 hours without a hitch. I actually almost didn't even realize it was time for a nap, I felt so good. At my next nap, though, I kept finding myself subconsciously thinking about things and had to force myself to clear my mind and fall asleep. I finally did after what I would guess was about 7-8 minutes, which is a lot for me. I usually fall asleep in no more than 3 or 4. That is, since I started my polyphasic schedule. It's interesting because I used to have problems falling asleep. It would sometimes take me 30-45 minutes to fall asleep. I think I've gained a new level of focus for falling asleep. It's pretty cool. I feel that I could get myself to fall asleep in 5 minutes no matter where I am.

Anyways, I woke up a bit tired, but I woke up nonetheless and after about 10-15 minutes felt great. It's now 2:35 and I'm starting to feel a bit tired, but it's not bad. I'll take my next nap at 4:30 and my final early morning nap at 8:30. I've been finding new programs to use as a alarms on my laptop, so hopefully 2 or 3 programs playing loud rap over my speakers every few minutes, along with my 2 regular alarms and also my phone, I'll avoid oversleeping again. I shall prevail, so stay tuned.

Are You Kidding Me?

Second night in a row that I take a nap at night and oversleep a couple hours to morning. I wouldn't have thought that I would oversleep last night. I felt really good. Ah well. Back on the schedule. I feel good and I don't think it's set me back that much but i can't keep doing this.

There's a competition going on at the business school here at UT in Austin and you had to make a video for one of the majors. Me and a couple friends made one for Supply Chain Management. If we get the most votes within that major, we win 900 dollars and go to the finals for a chance to win 3 grand.

Not Again

Not even 2 days and I'm already messing up??? What the heck! So I took a nap at a little past 5, and I don't know what happened after that. I remember seeing the clock at the time my alarm went off but its such a vague memory it might as well not have happened. I wasn't even tired! I NEED to figure out someway to combat this. The only problem I have is waking up so having someone else do this with me, or at least be there to wake me up if I don't wake on my own, would be awesome. So if you're interested (and going to UT obviously) let me know. This would help a ton, but I'm not getting my hopes up. I'm thinking I'm on my own on this one. I'm confident I can get through today and tomorrow as long as I wake up, but again, it all rides on that, unfortunately.

Not So Short But Sweet

Both this post and what I'm about to tell you about. I took a nap when I got back from my morning classes today. Laid down at 12:15 for the nap and ended up falling asleep within about 2 minutes tops. May have even been one. I was pretty tired. I ended up having a dream. I was skiing at Winter Park ski resort where I went snowboarding this winter break. It didn't look at all like Winter Park, but I knew it was. That's just how dreams work. Well I skiid down this one slope and picked up some speed so I could get up a slight incline to where my friends were. I kind of wonder why I was skiing and not snowboarding, but that's how it was. Anyways. My friends were trying to get up this insanely steep slope. Probably 85 degrees, if not straight up. There wasn't really much of a decline to pick up speed though. One of my friends ga already gone up but the others were a little daunted by it. They weren't scared, just hadn't attempted to go up it yet. Without hesitation I I started skiing down the short decline and by some dream magic, picked up an enormous amount of speed and started to ski straight up this slope. Up and up j went. I would estimate about 400-500 feet. I surpassed some clouds, but I'm still pretty positive it was in that range of height. It started sloping over as you approached the top, kind of like those hypercoasters, Top Thrill Dragster or Kingda Ka. I started slowing dowb abd with about 30-40 feet to go I lost all speed. I started to freefall back down into nothingness, getting that weightless feel and then awoke on my bed.

I'm pretty shocked, for a couple reasons. First, I have never had a falling dream. The most popular and well known dream that it seems everyone has and I've never had one. This was the first time. I don't really know how to explain that. It wasn't bad though. At no time did I really feel fir my life. It was more of just, ah crap, I didn't make it.

The second reason I'm kind if shocked is that this all happened in the span of 9 minutes. When I awoke from the dream, I looked at the clock be it was 2:24. I full expected to look at it and find that I had overslept. I had woken up so quickly that I could've still gone back to sleep, but I really didn't want to. I felt well rested and refreshed. Hipefyll I cab repeat this. Waking up early from a nap is awesome.

I take my next nap at about 5. I'm feeling pretty good so I don't think I'll have any problems. Tonight might he tough though because I have like 3 intramural games tonight so I'm going to be short on time for naps and am sure to be exhausted later tonight. Wish me luck.

Starting Over

Well guys, I've started over now. My last night for full sleep was Sunday night. I think taking a short break and starting over was a good choice. My body was so confused it was even funny ( except when watching mr on video). I did a lot of reading on Tynan's blog from when he went polyphasic and it reminded me a lotnof how I've gone so far. He was able to push through so it's given me a lot of motivation. I've also realized, from these past few days back to a monophasic schedule, that even though I've only been at the beginning adaptation stages of a polyphasic sleep cycle, that I hate sleeping "normally.". I love the feeling of always having the same level if awareness and awakeness an I just can't get past the fact that I'd be wasting so much time of my day sleeping if I stay monophasic. I really want to get over the hump and become completely polyphasic and I think these realizations will really help me pull through. Plus I'm awesome and that always helps :P

I'm going to be making a change in the way in blogging also. I'm not going to be doing any videos in the near future as it justvtajes too much time to get it all uploaded and whatnot and it's always up late so it's not really giving you an idea of how I am RIGHT NOW. So, what exactly am I going to be doing? Well, I'm only going to post regular blogs, butnim going to be posting them in higher frequencies. Instead of one really long post in the middlenof the night, I may post 4 or 5 shortnones throughout the day. It'll make it easier to remember what I want to say and you guys will get more live updates in how it's going.

So I hope everyone's cool with that. Hopefully it works out nicely. This is my first one for the day but I'll be posting more so be sure to check back. Stay tuned.

P.S. I'm posting this from my iPod because my computer is messed up so excuse the typos. I'll go back and fix them when I get a chance.

Polyphasic Sleep Update

Meant to upload this last night but couldn't.

My First Lucid Dream

WATCH THE VIDEO FIRST. THIS IS A CONCLUSION TO THE VIDEO.

After deciding that I wasn't going to be able to move my hand very quickly, I decided to try something that is said to not only help you prolong a lucid dream, but allow you to escape your current environment and move to another one within your dream. This technique is "dream spinning", and involves, simply enough, spinning on the spot. I tried doing this and picturing my scene changing to me sitting in a Shelby GT500. I wasn't able to maintain focus, however, and instead of falling into a new scene, I awoke after spinning and was back in my bed again. It was an amazing experience nonetheless, but I hope to become more familiar with the feelings of lucid dreaming and truly master it.

UPDATE: I did a little research on lucid dreaming tonight. Apparently, its not uncommon to be out of touch with your dream body, to feel like your in control of the body in your bed while in your dream. There are, however, very effective techniques to solve this problem. One is dream spinning, which I need to master, as it didn't work in this case, while the other is to rub your hands together very quickly. I'll be sure to try these next time I achieve lucidity. Stay tuned.
